Using Tap with an Android Phone 📱
Last updated: September 9, 2026
If you're using an Android device, great news—most Android phones support Tap right out of the box! 🙌 Here's how to use your Tap product to make giving simple and seamless.
What You'll Need ✅
- A Tap-enabled product (Tap Disc, Tap Stand, Tap Flex, etc.)
- An Android phone with NFC enabled
- A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or data)
⚠️ Not sure if your phone has NFC? Most Android phones made after 2017 do! You can double-check in your phone's Settings (see below).
Enable NFC on Your Phone 📡
Before tapping, make sure NFC is turned on:
- Open your Settings app.
- Tap "Connections" or "Connected devices" (this varies by device).
- Look for NFC and toggle it ON.
If you don't see NFC, try searching "NFC" in the Settings search bar.
How to Use Tap 👆
Once NFC is on:
- Hold the back of your phone near the Tap product (usually within 1–2 inches).
- A notification will appear—tap it to open your giving experience.
- Complete your gift in just a few taps!
📍 Note: On Android phones, the NFC reader is usually near the top or center on the back of the device. Try adjusting the phone's position slightly if it doesn't respond right away.
Pro Tips for a Smooth Experience 🧼
- No app needed—Tap works through your browser!
- Make sure the phone is awake and unlocked.
- Don't tap too quickly—hold the phone in place for a second or two.
- Some phone cases (especially thick or metal ones) may block the signal.
Still Not Working? 🛠️
If you're having trouble:
- Confirm NFC is enabled.
- Try removing your phone case.
- Test with another Android device if possible.
