Getting Started - The Low-Hanging Fruit
Last updated: September 9, 2026
Learn more about the easiest ways to start communicating your Willfora offer to your donors.
While every charity has unique ways that they communicate with their donors, there are a couple of low-effort options to get started with that are relevant for the vast majority of our partners.
#1. Linking from your website
Quick tips:
- When linking to Willfora from your website, we always recommend creating a button that’s easily visible and reads along the line of “Start My Will”, “Start Now For Free”, or “Create My Will”
- Our “Website Linking” how-to resources will help you determine the best copy to use for your charity to introduce Willfora alongside your button
- We alway recommend listing your link to Willfora alongside your other resources for gifts in Wills such as sample bequest language, donor stories, brochures, etc.
- Always make sure to link to your Charity Page instead of Willfora.com to ensure we can tag-and-prompt for a gift on your organization’s behalf
Why we love this:
We see this as a natural evolution in planned giving, where donors have more than one option available to them for creating Wills. This way, those with simple estates can create documents with Willfora, while allowing fundraising teams to spend more time working with the donors who may have more complex or specific estate planning requirements.
#2. eNewsletters
Quick tips:
- Embedding into ongoing newsletters is always the first outbound step we recommend for communicating Willfora to your donors
- Use a small section to split up content in a way that can be replicable on an ongoing basis, and see our “Newsletter/Magazine Copy” resources for verbiage options
- If you have access to track UTM codes, make sure that those are also appended to your Charity Page so that we can track where users originate from and report on it once a donor leaves a gift
Why we love this:
eNewsletters are easy and consistent, allowing your Willfora link to live in-market throughout the year, while being listed alongside other upcoming events, resources, and giving options. They’re the simplest way to cast a wide net to potential legacy supporters, since linking to Willfora can be included in planned giving or more broad newsletters that the charity may send to donors. They’re also the recommended place to start because they can target both supporters who are good legacy giving candidates, as well as donors who may not be in that category but simply need to create or update a Will.
