🕐 Why You Should Schedule Tap Link Updates 1 Minute Early

Last updated: September 9, 2026

When using Scheduled Updates in your Overflow Tap Dashboard, timing is everything, especially if you’re coordinating Tap experiences with live services or events. To ensure a smooth and seamless transition, we strongly recommend scheduling your link updates 1 minute before you want the new link to go live.

✅ Here’s Why It Matters:

Our system processes scheduled updates at the start of each minute, not down to the exact second. This means:

  • If you schedule a link to update at 7:00 PM, the system processes it right at 7:00 PM.

  • If someone taps at 7:00 PM and 3 seconds, they may still be directed to the previous link if the update hasn’t fully processed yet.

To avoid this brief overlap and ensure no one gets directed to the wrong place, we recommend scheduling the update for 6:59 PM if you want the new link to be live right at 7:00 PM.

📅 Best Practice Example:

Let’s say your midweek service begins at 7:00 PM and you want your Tap products to point to a connection card:

  • ✅ Correct: Schedule the update for 6:59 PM

  • ❌ Avoid: Scheduling the update exactly at 7:00 PM

This one-minute buffer ensures the update is fully processed before the moment it’s needed, giving you peace of mind and a better guest experience.
